Demand for Condos and Townhouses Remains Strong in Vancouver

The data from the Canada Housing and Mortgage Corporation (CHMC) was released April 10th. According to the report, a total of 2,486 homes were started in the month of April, and the majority of those, 2,044 units, were multi-family spaces—like townhouses and condos. By comparison, 2,296 units were started at the same time last year with 1,895 multi-family homes.
More people interested in condos and townhouses
The trend seems to indicate that more people are interested in condos and townhouses, so developers are focussing on these homes. Although overall sales are down almost 31% year over year—due in part the fact many people aren’t listing homes—an almost unprecedented interest in shared complexes is keeping the market stable.
“Despite all the new inventory, demand is still outstripping supply, making it an excellent time to list your townhouse or condo,” says Ariane. “And while there are many new developments on the market, people are also looking for entry-level townhouses and fixer uppers, too.”
